New VIQ and MEG4 Requirements for Mooring System Management Plans (MSMP)

On 20 June 2018 OCIMF issued the seventh edition of the SIRE Vessel Inspection Questionnaire (VIQ7), which introduced the requirement for a Mooring System Management Pian (MSMP) to be provided onboard all tankers (VIQ7 Chapter 9); the new VIQ becomes effective on 17 September 2018. Detailed requirements/guidelines for the MSMP were issued on 26 June 2018 as part of OCIMF's Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG4), fourth edition.
